Register Now for Beef Quality Assurance Training at Empire Farm Days

The New York Beef Industry Council has partnered with Cornell University Beef Extension Specialist Dr. Mike Baker and Empire Farm Days to offer a 3 hour Beef Quality Assurance Training on Tuesday, August 11 in Seneca Falls, NY. Empire Farm Days, the largest outdoor agricultural trade show in the Northeastern U.S., is held at Rodman Lott and Son Farms.

This 3 hour Beef Quality Assurance training opportunity includes classroom and chute-side training with Cornell University Beef Extension Specialist Dr. Mike Baker.

The program will begin at 4pm in the Beef BBQ Tent and move to the Cattle Handling Demonstration area on the 300 acre showgrounds. The 4-7 pm program will conclude with beef sandwiches for participants. To receive certification, BQA program participants will need to demonstrate their ability to give a subcutaneous injection.

‘This new training opportunity at Empire Farm Days is a great way to expand on the cattle handling education demonstrations and provide added value to the beef producers attending the show,’ says New York Beef Industry Council Executive Director Carol Gillis.

To register for the special training opportunity, contact Carol Gillis at 315-339-6922, cgillis@nybeef.org.

The popular Empire Farm Days cattle handling demonstrations with Dr. Baker will take place each day of the August 11, 12, and 13 event at 11:30am.

The Beef Center at Empire Farm Days includes live cattle breeds, the opportunity to talk with producers of the major beef breeds, and information on the Beef Checkoff Program that increases product demand through education outreach for health professionals, retailers and consumers.

The Beef Center also provides free beef recipes and information on the Beef Quality Assurance Program that combines technology, common sense, and animal well-being practices in a consumer-oriented production system.

Empire Farm Days features more than 600 representatives of agricultural interests; working farm equipment and displays; test driving opportunities; Dairy Profit, Equine Center, Soil Health Center and crops seminars; live animal demonstrations; and farm life displays.
